About

I am a software engineer and historian based in the Boston area, with experience at some of the world’s leading technology companies and research universities.

In both fields, my approach combines systems thinking and creative problem-solving with close attention to detail and a commitment to well-crafted work.

Background

Born in Sarajevo, I grew up in Bosnia and the United States before earning my B.A. in History at the University of Michigan. Following a year teaching English in northwestern Turkey on a Fulbright grant, I entered the Ph.D. program in History at Columbia University, earning my doctorate with distinction in 2019. I remain active as an independent scholar, publishing articles and presenting my research at conferences and institutions such as Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.

After completing my doctorate, I turned a longstanding interest in computing into a career in software engineering, earning a Master of Computer and Information Technology degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021. I have since worked at companies including Wayfair and Meta, developing backend services and infrastructure for AI, data processing, and machine-learning systems.
